Mon, 18 May 2015
Dear IFOS Member States and Societies,
World Health Assembly will be held in Geneva from May 18 - May 24, 2015. For the first time in 20 years, a technical report on hearing loss and ear care will be presented to the World Health Assembly (the convening body of the World Health Organization). The report will detail the scarcity of services and national programs for the estimated 360 million people worldwide with disabling hearing loss. This estimation of the prevalence of disabling hearing loss has tripled since the last time that the World Health Assembly heard a report this subject in 1995.
There will be a Side Event on May 18, 2015, 18.00 - 19.30 organised by IFOS and ISA (International Society of Audiology) to increase awarness on ear care and hearing loss among the participants of the WHA.
Please contact your Ministry of Health representative to the World Health Assembly and ask them to:
1) Attend this informative session on Monday May 18th at 6:00 PM at the Palais des Nations in Geneva
2) Call for a discussion of the technical report on hearing loss
Thank you very much for your support of IFOS activities in WHO
