Sir Patrick Eisdell Moore Clinical Research Fellowship

The University of Auckland seeks applicants for the Sir Patrick Eisdell Moore Clinical Research Fellowship. This Clinical Research Fellowship, established in the name of an eminent New Zealand Otolaryngologist, Sir Patrick Eisdell Moore is to enable outstanding clinicians with an interest in hearing or deafness research to pursue their interests in clinical or biomedical research in New Zealand.   The Fellowship can be held for up to three years and is primarily for graduates in otolaryngology but outstanding applicants in other disciplines associated with hearing and deafness will be considered.  The Fellow would be placed in any appropriate department within the Faculty, such as Surgery or Audiology, depending on the nature of the research and location of supervisors.  The Fellow can enrol for a postgraduate research degree and also some clinical duties (up to 3 tenths).  Applicants should be New Zealand Citizens or New Zealand Permanent Residents and would hold a clinical qualification enabling them to practice in New Zealand.

Applications

 

  1. The Fellow will be appointed by the Dean of the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences upon the recommendation of a selection committee comprising The Dean of the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences (or nominee), the Head of the Departments of Surgery and Audiology, a representative of the family of Sir Patrick Eisdell Moore, a representative of the Deafness Research Foundation (major sponsor).
  2. An application is to be submitted on the required form detailing the applicant’s background, programme of research to be undertaken and how the research will fit with the applicant’s future career plans.  Details of the research group or environment and supervision where the applicant intends to undertake the Fellowship must be provided. 
  3. Applications will need to be accompanied by a letter of support from a supervisor(s) within the University of Auckland.
  4. Details of any clinical attachment must be provided.
